Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is the field of Dentistry that concentrate on the view and surgical operation of oral and maxillofacial pathologic conditions. Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is specialized in the treatment hard and soft tissues of the mouth and jaws and face, facial trauma surgery, oral surgery, head and neck surgery, jaw surgery, facial aesthetic surgery as well as facial cosmetic surgery.

The mouth is a vital organ with a variety of uses. Additionally, it is prone to a number of medical and dental conditions. The study of the causes and effects of diseases that affect the oral and maxillofacial region is a focus of the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. It is occasionally seen as a dental and pathological specialty. Occasionally, the phrase "Head and Neck Pathology" is used instead, which could mean that the pathologist also treats problems of the Otorhinolaryngology in addition to the maxillofacial system. There is some overlap in this position between head and neck pathologists areas of expertise.
