Dental Pharmacology is the study of drugs used to treat conditions of the oral cavity. Each drug functions differently to address various dental issues. Some of these drugs include antibiotics, analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs and anti-periodontitis agents. Dental hygienists must exercise caution and precise knowledge when administering medications. These medications are used to alleviate pain, prevent infection, and create sterile conditions during dental procedures.
